THE SEARS ON ST.ANDREWS AND SANTA MONICA BLVD

Some people get chills  when they drive by an abandoned house. Some people get spooked when they drive by a graveyard.
I get creeped out when I drive past the SEARS on Santa Monica and St. Andrews.
(Little known fact about this Sears, it was the stunt double for the Shawshank prison)

Look at this thing! Even the trees around it have died.

Nothing says "bring your family to shop here" like a concrete building with no windows, surrounded by power lines. Sears' motto is "Life. Well spent" sounds more like a sentencing to retail prison.

I have never been in this Sears... Because it looks closed and ominous. I also see no breathing holes.  But I imagine it to be a picked through, linoleum paved, purgatory where uniform clad bilingual workers wax poetic in their Spanish mother tongue to clients who are looking for their piece of the American dream, the American dream being anything from grill equipment and baby onesies to a Bowflex and phones with chords.  All of these items are strewn about and mixed in with mismatched cookware sets all under the glow of a halogen sun.

There is no hope at this Sears.
